Training

India has a population of close to 200 Rotax Aircraft Engines and it is necessary that all schedules be carried out properly to maintain them in an airworthy condition. To meet this requirement, Greaves Cotton Limited has established a Training Centre within the premises of the Service Centre. Technicians and operators are given specialised training by our authorised factory trained engineers. The training centre is equipped with training engines, cut sections of major components and technical literature. Trainees are given hands on practical experience on engines. Troubleshooting of the engine is considered paramount and hence technical literature provided to the trainees essentially contains troubleshooting charts. Additionally, trainees are given individual attention for better understanding. The Training is conducted regularly during the year as per requirement on chargeable basis, for details contact anilkumar@greavesmail.com

Based on the guidelines of M/s BRP-Powertrain, Austria new Training Courses are now on offer.

The Training envisaged would include 500 & 900 series of Rotax Aircraft Engines and covers all Maintenance activities up to Top Overhaul. It is aimed to enhance the safety/maintenance standard to optimum level as well as to keep the engine airworthy at all times.

This training keeps its focus on Rotax standards and Manuals. Any deviation at the Aircraft will not be dealt and authority on such matters lies solely with the Airframe Manufacturer.

The Training consists of Introduction, Lecture, practical followed by a written test. The passing marks for the same is 70%. Following Certificates would be awarded to trainees based on his performance/course opted.

  • Certificate of Completion (with right to the use of title “iRMT”)
  • Certificate of Attendance

Certificate of Completion will be awarded to the successful trainee. The Independent Rotax Maintenance Technician (iRMT) certificate will be awarded to the trainee for Maintenance and Heavy Maintenance Courses only.

Certificate of Attendance will be issued to:-

  • Participants who have correctly answered less than 70% of the test questions but have demonstrated their practical abilities
  • Participants who have correctly answered less than 70% of the test questions and have unfortunately not demonstrated that required level of practical ability
  • Participants that did not take the test

These certificates will be valid for 2 years only.

The title "iRMT" (Independent Rotax Maintenance Technician) is Rotax-Specific proof that the participant has successfully completed the course stated on the Certificate. However, it must not and cannot be used as an indication of general abilities as an aircraft technician/mechanic. Those qualifications such as A&P, AME etc. are gained by completing the relevant training by national authorities eg. DGCA. This certificate only provides evidence of whether the participant has completed the type specific training for the relevant Rotax® Aircraft Engine. This certificate recognizes completion of the training detailed above and does not endorse the holder to do any work beyond what was instructed. The ultimate responsibility remains with the iRMT to determine what level of work he/she is capable of performing, depending on their experience, skill tooling, level of Rotax training and respective laws.
