 The Petrol Engines Unit of Greaves is an ISO 9001-2000 accredited facility located at Gummudipoondi, Tamilnadu. The unit manufactures light-weight, fuel-efficient, 2/4-stroke engines in 1 - 4HP range, ISI certified as conforming to IS 7347, for multiple applications like Water pumps, Sprayers, Construction equipments, Allied agricultural machineries and more. The engines run either on petrol or are available as petrol-start kerosene run version or run on a petrol start diesel run mixed fuel - depending on the type of fuel availability at the customer end. The engines are available as such, or coupled to pumps for different water-pumping requirements. The unit also manufactures low-emission, low-noise, eco-friendly portable generating sets for domestic and institutional use. A significant portion of the Unit's production is also exported to African and South Asian countries.
 The modern manufacturing facility is equipped with CNC Turning and Grinding machines as well as Horizontal and vertical machining centres to achieve consistent quality during mass production. Manufacturing lines are laid out in cellular fashion to ensure single piece flow and minimum WIP during production. A 3-coordinate CNC CMM monitors and ensures manufacturing quality by checking first samples. The engine assembly is dust-free, fully conveyorised, and equipped with pneumatic nut-runners at every station to improve quality and reliability. Consistency in quality is being maintained by 100% testing of engines after assembly.

 With specialized Technical Team along with well equipped Research and Development facility, it has gained capability to Design and Develop IC Engines and its related Application products independently. Over the years it has also improved the performance and reliability of its products and incorporated lot of innovative ideas and features to meet the customer's requirements. The facility includes Dynamometers, Pressure pick up, Emission analyser, Multi Channel Temperature Scanner, Noise & Vibration measuring equipments and Flow meters. Its CAD facility includes latest software tools like Pro-E, Ideas and Autocadd, with well trained personnel, the designing and modeling of components are done right at first time which also reduces Design to Market time.
